Deposit a Gift, a cash gift registry service, is a new twist on the traditional wedding registry. People can register for anything, from honeymoons to new home down payments to newlywed activities, using a database of images and determining their own “price points.” Our reason for being is in sync with the idea of a wedding being about your future: we allow you to register for items and experiences that you may want or need down the road.

As a bonus, we are also the only site of this kind that offers a free wedding website for all the event details and the ability to list your other registries, so that all of the information is in one place; total convenience for both user and guest. It’s a nice way to add personality to the gifting aspect of a wedding and include the guests in your vision for the future, giving them a sense for what their gift money will go towards.

We had so much fun throughout the whole process of working with Deposit a Gift–from designing our page to a hand-written note from Dana welcoming us to the registry by post. We decided to go with an online money registry for three reasons: 1) we didn’t want to register with any of the big chains or high street stores because it didn’t sit well with us politically, 2) we didn’t have specific makes and brands we knew wanted and 3) we wanted money for our honeymoon in Croatia! Thus our wedding list was two-fold (holiday & home), and it was really Deposit a Gift’s flexibility that allowed us to do that all in one place. In the end, we got to pick out the new kettle we wanted in our own time, find a vintage cake stand second-hand, and fund our honeymoon. Plus, we get to refer to their ‘gift’ record for our thank you cards–yeah!- Erica & Alexandra
